What is Pride in Place?
Pride in Place is a UK Government programme that gives neighbourhoods long-term funding to improve their area. Parts of the Tudno and Mostyn wards in Llandudno have been allocated up to £20 million over ten years, a mix of money for physical improvements and money for community activity.
Stronger communities
Thriving places
Empowered people
The neighbourhood is home to around 11,500 people and includes what is thought to be the first social housing in Wales.
Who decides?
A Neighbourhood Board of local residents, community groups, organisations and businesses, alongside the area’s MP and councillors. It is chaired by Jim Jones, with Jayne Black of Tŷ Hapus as Vice Chair. Conwy County Borough Council looks after the money for now, but the programme is led by the community.
What happens when
- Board set up (spring and summer 2026): chair, vice chair and members appointed.
- Listening (now): door knocking, a community survey, drop-ins and events to gather residents’ ideas.
- Writing the plan: a draft is planned by Christmas 2026, with the final ten-year plan due to the UK Government by the end of February 2027.
- Delivery: projects start once the plan is approved.
