Self-Catering Your Way
Not everyone wants a hotel. Llandudno and the surrounding coast have a huge choice of self-catering stays, from static caravans and touring pitches on family holiday parks to modern apartments with sea views in the town itself. This page covers the options and where to find them. For cottages and apartments in town, see our main self-catering in Llandudno guide.
Caravan and Holiday Parks
Llandudno itself is mostly built up, so the caravan parks sit just outside town, all within a short drive of the promenade.
Penrhyn Bay and the Little Orme
The closest parks to Llandudno are on the farmland around Penrhyn Bay and the Little Orme, just east of town. They tend to be smaller and quieter, with an easy drive or bus ride into Craig-y-Don and the town centre.
Conwy and the Conwy Valley
South of Llandudno, parks around Conwy and up the Conwy Valley suit people who want countryside and mountain views with Llandudno and Conwy both close by, and Snowdonia on the doorstep.
The coast towards Abergele, Towyn and Kinmel Bay
Further east, the coast between Llanddulas and Kinmel Bay is lined with large holiday parks, many with pools, entertainment and kids' clubs. They are around 20 to 30 minutes from Llandudno by car and are the classic choice for a family caravan holiday.
Tip: if you are touring, book pitches early for school holidays and bank holiday weekends, especially the Victorian Extravaganza weekend in May, when the whole area fills up.
Holiday Apartments and Airbnb-Style Stays
Many of Llandudno's grand Victorian townhouses have been converted into holiday apartments, so there is plenty of choice right in town, often with views over the bay or the Great Orme. They are great for families and groups who want their own space and kitchen while being able to walk to the beach, pier and restaurants.
You can find holiday apartments through the big booking sites as well as directly with local owners. Our self-catering and where to stay guides list local providers, and booking direct often gets you a better price and a more personal welcome.
