Llandudno is consistently a popular destination throughout the entire calendar year for tourists and holiday makers alike looking for caravan parks in Llandudno and the North Wales area. Thousands flock to the Victorian seaside town just for the day, for long weekends, or for extended holidays. However, more recently the town has seen a further decrease in vacant shops which has caused quite an increase in shoppers and tourists in the area.

Greg Robbins, Councillor of Mostyn Ward, said that, “This is one of the best summers we have ever had”. This excellent news aligns with the recently opened Primark at the Parc Llandudno retail park, bringing in an enormous amount of trade to the area. Llandudno has become a beacon for shoppers across the North Wales coast that may be looking for a single location to get all their shopping out of the way.

Mayor Francis Davies stated that it had been a rather busy season for retailers in the Llandudno area, with bank holidays being the busiest he had seen in a significant amount of time. “I haven’t seen so many people since the late 70’s, which is exciting for the town and businesses.

“There have been a good number of buses coming, which is a good sign that things are on the up, because they wouldn’t come otherwise”.

The managing director of Mostyn Estates, Edward Hiller, was in agreement with Councillor Davies, emphasising his points and stating that there is plenty to brag about. “Anecdotal evidence suggests that most of the well run hotels are at, or near capacity, and many retailers and food operators are generating robust trade.

“I have been particularly encouraged by levels of investment in the town across a broad range of commercial and other facilities. Over the past three months, the town has seen the completion of a new lifeboat station, an extension of the Links Hotel, the opening of Dylan’s Restaurant, at the Washington, and completion of the St George’s Hotel rooftop extension.

“Other new lettings on Mostyn Street have resulted in only two properties not being let and we understand that one of these is currently under offer. This gives an effective void rate along Mostyn Street of just over 1%, which is unprecedented in the past decade or more”.

There are even more plans to add more shopping facilities to the Tudno Castle Hotel and Mostyn Champneys retail park in the very near future. The feedback has been positive so far, with almost all local business utilizing the recent economic boost.
